Day 3: Sing Your Heart Out

Today, we began with another delicious breakfast and the freshest fruit known to man. We spent the morning at the Early Learning Center and were amazed by the patience of the teachers and the wild energy of the kids! We got to hang out with them at recess and in their classrooms and introduce them to some of our favourite toys (the classic gymnasium parachute). We were immediately attached to the kids there; they were just so cheerful and full of life.
In the afternoon, we hung out at the high school, playing sports and talking with the students. We heard from a couple of the graduating students this year about their experience, and the bible verse they had picked for their graduating class (Revelations 5:5). It was inspiring to hear their plans for after graduation and just how grateful they were for their education.
We ended the day by playing in a soccer tournament with the local community. We encountered some heat on the field as some people did not agree with the referee’s calls (it happens). Our unanimous favourite moment from the day was a girl from the early learning centre who was singing her heart out this morning. She showed such a spirit from God from such an early age, and it was a powerful moment. It reminded us this verse from Matthew 18:3. 'And he said: Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
Once again, we thank you for your prayers, we are looking forward to being impacted more and more by the children, teachers, T.E.A.R.S. personnel, and other community members.
God bless,
Laurel and the freezer boys (Mateo, Luke, and Joudi)
