Fonda's Extended Stay at TEARS
This week I saw first-hand the crucial need for the completion of Polytechnic Building #2 as space is at a premium for holding classes at the high school. TEARS has tried many solutions from holding classes in the open area of the school (not ideal learning conditions for sound and privacy) to having students doing online classes at home one day a week (difficult to engage students).

I enjoy starting the day with the students and staff as they gather every morning at the schools to raise the Dominican flag and sing the national anthem.
I spent two mornings happily volunteering with the two and three olds at the Early Learning Centre. On the other days I had fun interactions with the students in the High School English classes. Some are very enthusiastic to show off their English while I try to get by with my “espanol muy poquito ”. We often laugh at each others’ attempts.
Until next time, Fonda
